4.2. PROTOTYPING
I chose to explore three concepts from my Matrix - G, A and C, but... After almost three days of futile searching for a "buckle on the flap", I had no choice but to drop this concept and did the remaining two as you can see in the slideshow (#1. Concept) and the pictures below (#2. Concept).
My project is rather comprehensive and time-consuming and if I had more time I'd probably come up with 1-2 more, since I have a few other ideas.
Both prototypes combine the criteria (key needs) "big enough" and "serves as a purse" with a closure by one hand in two variations.
For the time being, I also 'discarded' the foldable variation, after I got a new idea how to solve that need. Although I stated one more need in the matrix - "items are easily found in it" - this time I didn't explored it, yet. I still have to put in effect an idea how to make some additional improvements regarding the inside of my totebag which I'll do in the next week.

1. CONCEPT PROTOTYPE "G" : CLOSURE WITH NOOSE AND BUTTON
This prototype combines the concept which got 8 points in my matrix with the key need 'big enough' and was made as a first version.
The totebag is made of durable reversible upholstery fabric and I 'played' a little bit with it making smaller parts of one side/face and the big one of the other.
Additionally, I also met another need I listed as third in the matrix criteria (and in week 2 as the need #22.), i.e. shoulder strap that doesn't fall off, by sewing-in a piece of a glass pad on the inner/lower side of the extended part of the strap.

2. CONCEPT PROTOTYPE "A":
CLOSURE WITH BELT & BUCKLE ON A DIFFERENT FLAP
My second prototype is modified version of the previous one. I made another flap and adjusted it on the same base/body of the totebag adding a new type of closure and exploring in that way two different concepts of mine.
4.1. CONCEPT SELECTION - 3 CONCEPTS
Concept Selection Matrix
In 10 concepts assignment I was exploring ways of bag closures, in relation to the size and a possibility to make it so it can serve also as a handbag. The reason I did such an extensive elaboration of the same problem is that through my previous sewing experience I kind of knew that a whole 'thing' may depend on it.
