3.1. Exploration - 10 Concepts
3.1.1 Decomposition by User Need
To see my complete list of “User Needs” from previous week click here.
(All the needs that bear numbers in the parenthesis are links related to the week 2 assignment).
The need I picked for this task is the key need (#1.): The totebag serves my needs wherever I go (having all the stuff I need in one “bundle") and I’m exploring it here in somewhat different, modified, refined way, i.e I'm combining it with an up-to-now-not-explicitly defined need that emerged after I did the week 2 tasks:
Starting point (big problem - one-sentence problem statement):
In what way might I have a totebag that covers my needs wherever I go (#1. key need) and also serves as a standard purse* that can be opened/closed with one hand (#29. latent need)?
(*underlined text is the part I didn't defined before)
I could create it in a way that it is big enough to hold the biggest item I need occasionally (specifically canvas 30x40 cm); it can serve as a standard purse; it opens/closes with one hand, and as a purse it also fulfills aesthetic aspects.
In what way might I do that?

In what way might I do that?
A. 'Big enough' sub-problem - It is at least as big as the biggest item (mentioned canvas) - It has a form ('portrait' or 'landscape') which is convenient to carry | B. 'Serves as a purse' sub-problem - It is foldable - It closes and opens easily with one hand (#29. latent need which I later explore as 10 concepts) - It has dual method of closure for both purposes - It's stylish and looks nice |
Integration I choose: Foldable totebag has a 'portrait' form as it's more convenient to carry (and fold), can be easily opened/closed with one hand and at the same time looks nice
3.1.2. 10 Concepts
THE FOLLOWING SLIDESHOW SHOWS MY 10 CONCEPTS (back to the week 4 assignments)
In this assignment I elaborate the latent user need (#29.): "the totebag easily opens/closes with one hand".
